Cultural Heritage 2: Data and Cultural Heritage

Session sponsored by DTC-Lazio

The Centre of Excellence-Latium Region’s Technological District of Cultural Heritage (DTC-Lazio) proposes the session ‘Cultural Heritage 2’ that will be held on the afternoon of Friday, 10 May, on the occasion of the Data Driven Innovation – Rome 2019 Open Summit. The session, which is organised by INFN-CHNet, is about ‘Data and Cultural Heritage’. The speakers will discuss the opportunities and needs of the use and re-use of digital data for the preservation and valorization of cultural heritage. Open Science is giving a chance to unlock the full potential that digital data have in the cultural heritage domain. European initiatives, i.e. European Open Science Cloud and ARIADNEplus, will be presented together with national best-practices, i.e. the projects of the ICCU-Central Institute for the Union Catalogue of Italian Libraries and for Bibliographic Information of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, and the digital platform of INFN-CHNet. A presentation on DTC-Lazio will conclude the panel and will be dedicated to the impact of digital data and technologies in the cultural heritage sector for the economic growth of the territory.

CHNet is the network of Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) which brings together laboratories working on the development and the applications of analytical techniques for the study and the diagnostics of Cultural Heritage. The network is monitored by CNTT, the National Committee for the Technological Transfer of INFN. The LABEC laboratory, INFN unit of Florence, is the reference structure.
