Statue Vestite lavori in corso: meetings and exhibitions to talk about a diagnostic campaign
Following the broad in situ campaign that involved the CHNet researchers at the Diocesan Museum of Massa in the STA.VE project, funded by MIUR in the framework of the E-RIHS.it initiatives, in the next days two important initiatives will take place to disseminate to the general public the results of the scientific investigations performed:
– on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Diocesan Museum of Massa, the workshop “Una statua formata in più pezzi con ossatura di legno. Ricerca e diagnostica su statue vestite polimateriche” (A several pieces statue with a wooden backbone: research and diagnostics of the multi-material dressed statues) will take place. Among the speakers Dr. Maria Pia Morigi, head of the CHNet Bologna node;
– from 7 to 24 March 2019 at the Diocesan Museum, the exhibition “Statue vestite lavori in corso. Dalla devozione alla ricerca scientifica” (The dressed statues: work in progress. From devotion to scientific research) focused on the scientific investigations results and their dissemination to the general public.
The X-ray investigations concerned some of the most important Statue Vestite of the Museum, dating back to the XVII and XVIII century, and involved CHNet researchers from the LNS node, with the innovative LANDIS-X mobile instrumentation for the non-invasive complementary analyses of the stratigraphy and the pigments of the Statue Vestite, and the researchers of the Bologna node, with the new transportable X-ray tomographic scanner designed for large work of arts analysis, to reveal the complex structures of the Statue and their interventions and restorations.
