STA.VE PROJECT: XRF ANALYSIS AT THE DIOCESAN MUSEUM OF MASSA
CHNET researchers concluded the measurement campaign for STA.VE project (Statue Vestite polimateriche) of the Dipartimento di Civiltà e Forme del Sapere, University of Pisa (scientific manager Antonella Gioli), at the Diocesan Museum of Massa, where the innovative mobile infrastructure LANDIS-X has been used for performing complementary non-invasive analyses of the stratigraphy of painted layers and of the pictorial pigments distribution on painted and dressed votive statues. The combined confocal X-ray fluorescence analyses and micro-XRF imaging provided new information concerning the manufacturing materials, the nature of the pictorial pigments and the conservation state of artworks. The project has been funded in the framework of the Italian calls of E-RIHS.
